Honestly, I found this in my father's car and only popped in the first tape to have something to listen to on my 20 minutes drive to school. I was surprised to find myself engrossed in the novel about a young girl who was the daughter of a Polish immigrant who build his own American Deam in the form of the Baron hotels. Imagine my surprise in finding out that this was the sequel to another best seller, that I will be sure to pick up as soon as possible. The best part was the main character,

Hmmm.... So this was definitely better than it prequel, perhaps, more because of the representation of an empowered woman and less because of the romantic touch in the story, contrary to what I believed before. I realised that this book had more of an impact on me because of the idea that it was a story of a woman, not one who has been stepped over and is ready to snap at society but one who was built, from the time when she was young, to lead, to stand up for what she believed. 2.8 stars. The first book is interesting enough, the second book is okay-ish but the plot and the characters are a bit bland. It's by no mean a bad book, but I'm not getting into it plus it feels like none of the characters has suffered any real heartbreak, hardship or drawback. I love Jeffery Archer books, but I have mixed feelings about The Prodigal Daughter. The first half is typical Archer: I got so immersed in the story that when I finally came up for air, I noticed I had read 200 pages.
