Not a lot of mileage this week. A 9 miler and two spin classes +1 run home from the gym. The 9 miler was a decent run and the spin classes were good for turning the legs over.

Iron Pig Duathlon

No training to speak of this week. I did do a spin class but I'm not sure that really counts. I was recovering from the Hogeye 1/2 this week and resting for the Ironpig Duathlon. The IPD was a 3 mile run, 19 mile bike, 3 mile run. I did it in 1:37. No splits but overall I was happy with that time.

5 months out! w/ update- Hogeye 1/2

Wow. A long time since I blogged. Oh well- fortunately I've run since then!!

Decent mileage through the weeks but nothing different.

I did the Hogeye 1/2 marathon this weekend. 1:44.... 8 minute miles... Not too shabby but not fast by any means. I did do it four minutes faster than last year so it stands to reason that the elusive sub-20 5k is going to happen at some point!

Weekly totals

What a crappy week! only two runs- 9 miles each. My fastest was yesterday when I ran my usual route at 1:14. I am going to start running a bit longer in preparation for my first big run of the year- the Hogeye Half Marathon. The goal here will be low 1:40's. If I can get to a nice sub 8 minute pace on my 9 miler that should be no problem.

My running program will now consist of slowly adding distance to my long runs- these will be slow (9 minute pace) base building runs. My 9 mile route will be my fast run. Anything shorter (probably my 6 mile route and any track runs) will be exclusively for speed work.

Week's totals
1 day at the gym
3 yoga workouts
2 long runs 3:00 hours total running.

Weekly totals

Jess and Julie,

I am addressing this to you because you are the ONLY ones who ever read this ... :-(

This was an off week. Only a couple of workouts (I was out of town a bit) but it's a good opportunity to recover a bit.

Total runs 1 9 miles 90 minutes
Additional cardio 30 minutes of intervals on the elliptical ( no, I'm not gay but thanks for asking).
Workouts 2- Body pump 50 minutes and a chest workout

Total cardio 2:50

On another note, my 9 mile route is getting easier and faster. The last couple of times I ran the route I'm about 3 minutes faster than usual and I'm running light and feeling good. I will continue to run this route and start to add a little distance in February. I also run another 8.5 mile route that is off road and that felt really good last week as well.. :-)

Weekly totals

I cranked out another two runs - one five miler and another nine miler and another spin class.

Totals

4 runs - 32 miles 4:45
2 cycle classes 1:30

6:15 total cardio time

I also worked out twice- one upper body and one body pump class. Not a bad week at all!

I ran 9 this afternoon and it felt really good- quick and light! The 9 miler on Saturday was also good. I think the extra mileage is starting to pay dividends!
